It's common to have a lot of questions when you are first exploring essential oils. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can here, but please feel free to contact me with more questions.
How do I purchase essential oils?
The best way to buy essential oils is to find a company that sells pure essential oils with a wholesale membership. This is similar to a Costco or Sam's Club membership where you pay a small fee to get wholesale prices. You can get 25% off the retail price with a wholesale membership fee of $35 for the first year and $25 each additional year. There are other options for purchasing essential oils however. Ask me for details.
Should I start with a kit or individual oils?
If the company you are interested in purchasing from offers kits, I highly recommend starting with a kit. Many introductory kits contain the most popular oils, such as Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Melaleuca, Frankincense, Oregano. There might also be pre-blended oils, helpful for digestive issues, muscle soreness, respiratory health, and overall immune health. You'll be so glad you started with a kit! Most people don't buy Frankincense when they first start, not realizing how much they'll love it. If you start off with a kit, you'll have just about everything you need to get started and have lots of options. Then you can fill in with additional orders later.
What's your favorite oil?
Do I have to choose just one?! I guess I'd choose the Balance Grounding blend because it keeps my moods balanced. I also really love copaiba, lavender, and vetiver, too, though.
I've seen doTERRA on Amazon. What's that about?
Never buy doTERRA on Amazon, Ebay or any suspicious looking site. If the price is too good to be true, then the product probably is not good at all. We had a team member buy a bottle of Breathe from Amazon – and it definitely wasn’t authentic, it smelled very different. It is very easy to take off the cap/ring and either dilute or replace the oil with a cheaper brand and then put on a new cap and seal and sell it for profit. Amazon has very little control over quality.
Credit card fraud is happening – people are using stolen cards to buy oils in large quantities and then sell them on places like Amazon or Ebay. doTERRA has done a lot to cut back on this but it does still happen sometimes unfortunately. While these oils may be legit, you don't know how they were handled (were they kept in a hot warehouse or car, thus destroying therapeutic value?) and of course we don’t want to support any criminal activity.
It's much better to buy quality oils from a friend or respected contact. There’s a lot to learn when you get started with essential oils. It is ideal to get started within community and with support so you can use them safely and correctly. The community we provide is INVALUABLE! When you are a member on our team you will have our support as your upline, our amazing private Facebook group, lists of resources for 100’s of ours of free education from the company itself and more. When you buy from Amazon or Ebay you get none of that. Plus supporting someone you know with your business is just a lot more fun!

Am I allowed to go out in the sun?
The sun is inviting and it’s often a boost to go outside and get that natural vitamin D. However, be aware that some of your family’s favorite citrus oils should be avoided topically before direct sunlight or exposure to artificial UV rays. Remember that we are all different. I have never had a photosensitive reaction, you buy might.
When photosensitive skin is exposed to UV radiation, this may result in temporary darkening of skin pigment and irritation, much like a sunburn.
Photosensitive Oils
For the safety and convenience of doTERRA customers we have identified and labeled the following essential oils and blends as photosensitive:
AromaTouch®, Bergamot, Breathe®, Cheer®, Citrus Bliss®, Citrus Bloom, Cumin, Elevation, Forgive®, Grapefruit, InTune®, Kumquat, Lemon, Lime, Motivate®, On Guard®, Purify, Slim & Sassy®, Sunny Citrus, Tangerine, Wild Orange, Zendocrine
